What is blush?

Blush is a tincture that is in powders that is meant to make your skin more vibrant. It is a great if you have a medium – full coverage base. Below are two types of blush and how to use them;

Types of blush

Powder blush

This can be used on a bare face or on top of your foundation. They come in different shades ranging from matte to satin. It is usually applied with a brush, you can blend it use to have a more natural look or add more for a dramatic look. You should add a little primer for the blush to cling on and stay longer.

Cream blush

This can be applied directly on top of foundation, and looks better on bare skin. They can stay on longer than powder blush and do not require a primer. You can apply it and use your fingers, brush or sponge to blend it out. Creams tend to look a bit more natural, it makes it look like the color is coming from the skin.

Apply blush for your face shape

Square faces

They have a forehead about the same width as the chin and cheekbones. Therefore, to help define them you can apply your blush under the cheekbones and around the hairline to soften the edges.

Oval faces

This type of face has flat/noticeable forehead and cheekbones a-little bigger than the chin. Apply the blush onto your cheekbones which can easily be found by using your fingers. Aim the blush above the bone instead of underneath to raise your cheekbones.

Oblong/long faces

Oblong faces or also known as rectangular are almost like oval faces. With this type of face your cheeks, jawline and forehead are the same width. You can apply the blush on your cheekbones, in the outer corners of the eyes and blend it well. The blush shouldn’t extend to the tip of the nose, it will help shorten the features.

Heart shaped faces

These types of faces have high cheekbones and a wide forehead with a narrow chin. Your face can then appear a-little pointy, you need to soften the edges. So, apply blush on your cheekbones starting by your ears.

Triangular faces

Having a triangular face means your chin is narrow and high cheekbones. For this type of face the blush should be applied in a sideways V on the cheeks. Blend, blend from the cheekbones to the brow area towards the forehead. This will help balance the foreheads width to the rest of the face.

Round faces

Round faces are wide and long. Avoid using reflective blushers because they will make the face look rounder. Instead use matte blushers.
